Biography
Pete Codella, Accredited in public relations, operates Codella Marketing as an independent public relations practitioner. He excels where technology meets the practice of public relations.
Codella Marketing’s mission is to assist clients in delivering the right message to the right audience at the right time.
Codella first began operating Codella Marketing in Henderson, Nev. in 2002 and in 2008 moved its base of operations to northern Utah. In 2006 Codella developed NewsCactus, a hosted, social media equipped online newsroom solution, which he continues to operate.
Named the 2007 Communicator of the Year by the International Association of Business Communicators/Las Vegas, Codella is a strategic business communicator who assembles comprehensive public relations programs that include both long-term vision as well as day-to-day details involved in influencing target audiences.
Codella’s professional experience includes working in corporate communications, a three-year stint working at a university, and serving as general manager for a public relations firm and public relations director for an advertising agency.
He has managed agency operations, business development, media relations, crisis communication, marketing, advertising, Web site design and maintenance, social media implementation, professional development, collateral materials, special events, strategic planning, public affairs, speaking engagements and event coordination.
Codella has functioned as director of the Las Vegas Development Roundtable, volunteered as a board member for the Technology Business Alliance of Nevada, and served as public relations counselor for both the Susan G. Komen for the Cure–Las Vegas Affiliate and Racing for Recovery–Las Vegas Chapter. He also has volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America–Las Vegas Area Council on numerous fundraising projects.
He is the only person to ever be elected president of both Las Vegas chapters of the International Association of Business Communicators and Public Relations Society of America. He recently finished a two-year stint as a member of the executive committee for the PRSA Independent Practitioners Alliance and currently serves as president of the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City.
Codella has received top honors—Pinnacle Awards and Bronze Quill Awards—from PRSA and IABC in Las Vegas. He is the 2007 recipient of the IABC/Las Vegas President’s Award and Communicator of the Year, the highest honor bestowed on a member of IABC/Las Vegas.
Codella is the former vice-chair for the BYU Alumni Association–Las Vegas Chapter and remains active in the BYU Management Society Salt Lake Chapter. In 2006 he was named by In Business Las Vegas as one of the Top 40 Under 40 in professional services.
He has worked for Brigham Young University’s Performing Arts Management where he was responsible for managing, promoting, marketing and booking 16 university performing ensembles. He also served as a tour manager and coordinator on numerous national and international tours. Pete also has worked at the Merrill Lynch world headquarters in New York City and for Health Benefits America in Salt Lake City.
He is a fortunate husband and proud father who enjoys spending time with his young family and their energetic weimaraner.
